I finally got a hold of Taco Bell’s Nacho Fries with Vegan Nacho Sauce (debut- October 12, 2023 in the US)!
As a vegan, I miss the regular nacho sauce, which obviously isn’t vegan.
So-you can imagine how stoked I was to see this limited time offering!

Taco Bell’s Nacho Fries with Vegan Nacho Sauce Review
Taste
Taste Score: 9/10
Check out a video of me trying it below!
My little vegan heart was warmed by the how authentic this tasted to the ‘regular’ dairy nacho sauce that I used to get treated with!
It tasted cheesey, and had that ooey gooey texture that I remembered.
There was even that slight bit of spice that was reminiscent of the original nacho sauce.
The reason why I didn’t give the taste 10 starts was because I think it was a bit more watery than I remembered the original being.
But
that was hardly noticeable!
Also, the fries were super delicious and seasoned with lots of flavor (albeit, a bit messy)!
Portion:
I got the large nacho fries with the sauce, and I will say: I do think I got a smaller amount of vegan nacho cheese than I remember the original being!
Basically, I remember, my ‘regular’ nacho cheese being filled to the brim. FYI- this is anecdotal, so take that with a grain of salt 😉
None the less, I felt satisfied with the portion I got!
Nutrition
I went on on the TacoBell website here to find the nutrition info.
Here are some of the nutrition facts from the site (large serving size) (3):
- Calories: 450
- Saturated Fat: 2.5 grams
- Sodium: 1090 milligrams
- Carbohydrates: 51 grams
- Dietary Fiber: 6 grams
- Protein: 7 grams
- Potassium: 920 milligrams
Unsurprisingly, this side is high in sodium, a nutrient we don’t want to consume an excess of for health reasons.
While I didn’t see any partially hydrogenated oils (unhealthy man-made trans fats) used in the ingredients list, it’s likely that the fries were ‘fried’ (possibly in repeatedly heated oil)- which in itself is a ‘less healthy way’ of preparing potatoes.
I’m not about to label these as healthy (unsurprisingly) .
Still I thoroughly enjoyed them and would treat myself again to them! As a vegan, it’s nice to have something that reminds me of the foods I use to enjoy.
Part of my healthy relationship with food includes not demonizing foods (more of my personal story over here). We can recognize that some foods are more or less healthy without demonizing them (after all, physical health includes mental health!)
Price
Interestingly, I got a large size for $2.99 USD, and my husband (who got the regular dairy containing version) got his for the same price!
For whatever reason, I often see vegan products on several menus being more expensive– so this was a nice surprise!
Final Verdict: Would I Buy These Again?
If I was craving this flavor- yes! I thought they were delicious, and very authentic to the flavor of the dairy version (again, these are just my opinions!).
Pros:
- Tasty
- Well seasoned
- Vegan nacho cheese sauce tasted similar to the dairy version
Cons:
- Slightly more watery than the dairy cheese sauce
- These aren’t health foods (but what did you expect?)
